Important: Insolvency Protection
Mandatory for package travel organizers
Under the Austrian Package Travel Act (Pauschalreisegesetz), tour organizers
must provide insolvency insurance to protect customers' deposits.
This is separate from the trade license and must be in place before
selling any package travel.
Online Travel Agencies
Online-only travel agencies have the same requirements as brick-and-mortar agencies. The Reisebuero trade license covers both physical and online operations. EU consumer protection rules (cancellation rights, information obligations) apply fully.
